Office optimisation project in London
The Government department required an installation of more than 4,800 Excel Cat5e outlets to service a voice and data network over 17 floors of a 35 storey multi-let office building as part of a refurbishment project.
The working areas were made available on a floor-by-floor basis and were undertaken and completed in accordance with the target programme to support and work around the staff.
We provided teams of engineers to work on each floor backed up by an on-site supervisor who liaised with builders and other traders to ensure the smooth running of the project over a 6 month period.
After removing the existing cabling, our teams installed up to 500 Cat5e outlets per floor beneath a raised floor on a cable mating distribution system. Finally they were tasked with the installation of new 42u cabinets and the termination and testing of outlets to field and cabinet locations. Each floor was serviced by its own local equipment room which in turn was linked by a new diversely-wired OM3 multimode fibre optic backbone.
